Relationship or religions AKA
Turned over to their own delusions.
2 Corinthians 11:12-15 (NLT) 12But I will continue doing this to cut the ground out from under the feet of those who boast that their work is just like ours. 13These people are false apostles. They have fooled you by disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. 14But I am not surprised! Even Satan can disguise himself as an angel of light. 15So it is no wonder his servants can also do it by pretending to be godly ministers. In the end they will get every bit of punishment their wicked deeds deserve.
I honestly cannot keep track of how many of our members come to Mary or myself with some new great teaching or Bible revelation. Ninety percent of the time these great new things come from some self proclaimed great man of God or prophet. You cannot truly grasp the damage all this has done to the body of Christ. As Christians we are now either spending all our time trying to be politically correct, so we do not offend a sinner or we spend all our time seeking out what great things God wants to do just for us. Please, Please just give me some of that old time religion. As the old song says it is good enough for me. What is that good old time religion? Believing what the simple and pure word of God says and testing everything by it. Let see what it says, 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NLT) 16All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right. 17It is God’s way of preparing us in every way, fully equipped for every good thing God wants us to do. Do you see what Paul is telling young Timothy. Paul is telling Timothy and us that the scripture will teach us what is 1) true, 2) wrong with us, 3) what is right to do, and 4) will prepare us for life.
What more do we need. But today's Christian is just like all the commercial's for the youth. The modern Christian is no longer satisfied with a personal loving relationship with Jesus, they are no longer satisfied with the Word Of God. Nope! they want something new, something extreme. The Bible is just old fashion and passé. They want a new word, a new thing, a bigger "Holy Spirit" experience, they want something to believe in. They do not want Jesus' words. John 20:29 (NLT) 29Then Jesus told him, "You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who haven’t seen me and believe anyway. You see that is the good old time religion. The days when "religion" was having a personal relationship with our Lord and not chasing every wind of doctrine, false prophet or professing your religious organization before you profess your alliance to Jesus.
God, Jesus, Paul, Peter, John etc. warned us against the false teachers that take our eyes off the Word of God. Matthew 7:15-17 (NLT) 15"Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep, but are really wolves that will tear you apart. 16You can detect them by the way they act, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit. You don’t pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles. 17A healthy tree produces good fruit, and an unhealthy tree produces bad fruit.
Just take a long look, are these prophets/false teachers. Are they truly interested in your soul, your salvation, your eternity, or are they more interested in making themselves richer and more popular? Are they telling you what you need to do for eternity; or are they telling you how to have your best life now? Be honest when was the last time you heard a HELL AND DAMNATION sermon. When was the last time you heard a pastor tell you that YOU needed to be holy and follow the Word of God. If we spent more time in prayer and the word of God we would not need that new "Holy Spirit" experience to believe. WE WOULD KNOW!!! We would not need our best life now because we would know that eternity waits for us.
I guess this is the reason I love Jesus so much. He shot straight from the hip and told it like it was. When the woman was caught in a adultery did he say "Look you woman I want to teach you that you can have your best life now." Did He say " Go and sow your seed to meet your need." Did he say " You know my dear we all fall down but I am here to help you get up"? Did he say " You just need the baptism of the Holy Spirit and you won't sin anymore"? Did He say" let me give you this really cool new gift of the Spirit so you can laugh uncontrollably, fall down and disrupt the services at your church" NO! he said "Neither do I. Go and sin no more. Very simple, Go and sin no more. Jesus said it all when asked what was the greatest commandment He simply answered, Matthew 22:37-8 (NLT) …"‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. This is a recurring theme in the Word of God. Deuteronomy 6:4-5 (NLT) 4"Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD alone. 5And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength.
So, You want your best life now? You want the Lord to shower blessings on you? You want as the Bible promises, health, wealth and long life? I would suggest you get back to basics of a personal relationship with Jesus. Start at the beginning with Christ's words as to what the greatest commandment is …"‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. Do this and spend time in prayer talking to the first love of your life and you will blessed beyond all of your dreams. Focus on the Lord and what He wants for your life, not yourself and what you want and you will be surprised what will happen. As the old saying says "try it you like it"
God bless
